Best Music Cities In The United States

My family deeply loves music, but not in the traditional sense. While none of us excel at playing instruments or singing, we’re all avid fans of live music and enjoy great songs. So, we love visiting new cities known for their music scene.

Whether you dream of packing your bags and moving to a new destination in order to become the next big country music sensation, or you want to vacation in a place known for its vibrant music scene, I’ve got you covered. Here, you’ll find a collection of the best cities in America known for their music.

When we talk about music capitals, Nashville, Tennessee, stands out. It’s where country music dreams come true. People flock from all corners to pursue their dreams of being discovered by a major label and headlining in country music here.

Broadway in Nashville is particularly buzzing with music. It’s a street lined with lively bars and restaurants where countless bands perform day and night, singing their hearts out. It’s a must-visit for country music fans, offering an experience like no other.

I’ve visited Nashville too many times to count, always leaving with awesome memories—even if I’ve indulged in one too many Nashville hot chicken sandwiches. But it’s always worth it, thanks to the incredible bands that perform throughout the city, especially during the annual CMA Fest, where big names like Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, and others take the stage at the Nissan Stadium.

Many singers and songwriters dream of selling out Madison Square Garden, so you can bet the city is filled with music, too!

While you can catch live music at various venues throughout the city, I recommend planning and checking who’s headlining at Madison Square Garden. Popular pop stars often come here on tour, making it a perfect destination for a mix of shopping, music, entertainment, and sightseeing.

We can’t talk about various music cities in the United States without mentioning the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado. My husband and I originally fell in love with Colorado for its endless hiking and skiing opportunities in the mountains, but the cherry on top was everything else its capital city had to offer, including great food, awesome shopping, and an epic music scene.

Just a few miles outside of Denver is one of the most iconic amphitheaters in America, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. There’s nothing quite like experiencing a concert here, with its stunning red rock formations and mountain views behind you and the city of Denver off in the distance below. And let’s not forget the incredible bands that come to perform here. It’s one of the most amazing experiences, so check their calendar in advance to catch a show.

Columbus, Ohio, is one of those under-the-radar cities. While it might not come to mind as quickly as other large cities like New York City, known for its nightlife, shopping, and attractions, or Los Angeles, famous for its celebrities and high-end dining, Columbus has its unique appeal. Most people associate Columbus with football, thanks to the amazing Buckeyes, but it also has a rich music history.

The city boasts many live music venues, such as the Newport Music Hall and KEMBA Live! But what sets Columbus apart is that it’s the hometown of several bands. One of my favorites is the country band Rascal Flatts, which originated in Ohio.
