A Review of the Rainforest Room on Disney Cruise Line

The rainforest room on Disney Fantasy is a spa experience for adults only.  It is not included with your cruise fare and has to be reserved.

Money doesn’t grow on trees, and a cruise with Disney Cruise Lines isn’t cheap, so I’ll try to share all the details I have learned so you decide if you want to book the Rainforest Room on your Disney Cruise.

What is the Rainforest Room?

The rainforest room is located in the Senses spa on Disney Fantasy, which is the one I utilized, and Disney Dream.  It is also on Disney Magic and Wonder, but those ships are smaller so the Rainforest room experience may be different as well.

The main difference is that on the Fantasy and Dream, the hot tubs are looking out over the ocean.

The Disney Wish also has a rainforest room.

The rainforest room is more than a room, it is a spa experience. The Rainforest room on the Disney Cruise line has a dry sauna, with a floor-to-ceiling window and views of the ocean.

There are 2 steam rooms set to different temperatures.

You get to experience 4 different shower experiences with different temperatures, pressures, and lights.

There are also heated stone loungers that look out toward large windows and 2 private jacuzzi tubs that look out to the ocean (on the Fantasy and Dream)

What to wear to the rainforest room on the Disney Fantasy

Wear a bathing suit with a sundress or cover-up.  When you get to your rainforest room time, you will be given a robe and flip-flops to wear during your experience.

They provide towels, so you don’t need to bring those.  They also provide water and lemon water so that you stay hydrated.  This is important since the rooms are so hot, you’ll definitely sweat. Drink lots of water so you feel good after!

What to expect in the Rainforest room on Disney Fantasy

My experience in the Rainforest Room was while Disney Cruise Line had COVID-19 protocols in place, so my experience may be different than yours.  If you are unsure ask the cast members at the desk at the spa.

Due to COVID-19, my friend and I were able to have the entire rainforest room on the Disney Fantasy all to ourselves! (I’ll explain the pricing structure later). Now, as of April 2022, you do not get the area to yourself, instead, you will be sharing the experience with other guests.

➡️ Update: You wont have a specific “check-in time” or “appointment” for the Rainforest Room now that COVID protocols have lifted. You can come and go on as you wish on the days you have a pass.

When it was time for our appointment, we headed to Senses Spa and checked in.  We were able to choose a scrub to use during our Rainforest Room experience.  I chose lavender, and Shelly chose Tangerine, but there was also chocolate mint.  I’m not sure if those change or are standard.

Update: the scrubs now cost an additional $15.00. They smelled nice, and you can get more than one use out of each pot, but $15 is a bit expensive in my opinion.

After choosing our scrubs, we were escorted into the Rainforest Room.  We were given a bracelet that unlocked the door in case we needed to use the restroom during our experience.

Inside we were given flip-flops, robes, towels, and plenty of water infused with lemon.  There was soothing music and lovely essential oils being diffused throughout the rainforest room.

We were able to have the entire experience to ourselves for an hour and 45 minutes! That has changed now that COVID protocols changed, but that was our experience.

What to do in the Rainforest Room on Disney Cruise Line

After checking out all that the Rainforest Room had to offer we wondered what was the best way to experience it.  This is what we did.

  • Jacuzzi- We couldn’t resist heading straight to the personal jacuzzis! They were such a great relaxing start to our experience.  They are facing floor-to-ceiling windows on 3 sides.  The middle portion is open so you feel the ocean breeze coming through as well.
These are supposed to be for 2 people, it was nice having them to ourselves. I think having 2 people in the jacuzzi would be too close for me unless you knew the other person.

  • Showers- We hopped in one of the showers (ok, we tried them all to see which we liked the best!) The showers are Rainforest, water fun, tropical thunder, and cool mist.  In each of these showers, there are 3 different settings all of which have different pressures, temperatures, and lighting effects.  They can be a little startling at first because some of them start out cold! Its so fun to try them all though.
  • Caldarium- Next we went to the Caldarium- This was my least favorite room, and I was only able to be in here for about a minute.  It was so hot I felt like I couldn’t breathe.  The seats and walls are all dark stone and they were hot too. I hopped out and cooled off in the showers. I tried to take a picture, but it was so hot and steamy that my camera wouldn’t work.
Caldarium Room
  • Hamam- This is my favorite room and the one I spent the most time in.  It is still hot, but where the Caldarium felt suffocating and hot, this was moist heat. The stone seats stayed cool, and it felt wonderful to lay on the cool stone and feel the heat.
  • Laconium- This is another great room! It is a dry sauna with a floor-to-ceiling window that overlooks the water.  This is a great meditation room, I felt so centered and calm In here.  It was absolutely incredible!
  • Scrub time- Now that your skin is warmed up it’s a great time to hop in your favorite shower experience and use the scrub and exfoliating sponge you were given at the beginning. Be cautious though, the oils in the scrub make your feet slippery!  Your skin feels so incredible after this experience, and now it’s time to relax and let your skin absorb all of those amazing oils!
  • Put on your robe and head out to the heated stone loungers. You may think these won’t be comfortable, but I’m here to tell you they are the GREATEST thing ever! If I had tried them first, I might not have done anything else for 90 minutes.  They are warm, perfectly curved to relax, and face the ocean.  There is also a reading lamp on each one if you wanted to read.  Some of the ships have curtains between the stone loungers, but the Rainforest Room on the Fantasy did not.

How much does the Rainforest Room Pass Cost in 2024

Ok, here it is.  The one possible downside to this incredible experience in the senses spa Rainforest Room on the Disney Fantasy is the price!

Remember to check the prices with each sailing, but these should be a good reference.

You can pre-purchase a Disney Cruise Rainforest Day Pass online for about $29 per day. This can be added by your travel agent, or by calling customer service.

Sometimes, you can get these on board, but calling ahead is always better. If you do wait until you are on board, head to the spa right after your muster drill before they sell out.

You can also buy passes for the length of your cruise that are for individual use or couple use.

How to book the Rainforest Room

When you get on board your Disney Cruise complete your muster drill, and then head straight for Senses Spa.  It’s deck 11 aft on the Fantasy.

Go into the spa, and tell the front desk crew member that you want to book the Rainforest Room.  They will let you know what days and times are available. Sea days book quickly so don’t hesitate to get there soon after boarding to get your spot.

We did the first full sea day which was amazing after being in Disney parks the 2 days prior to our cruise. It was a nice way to start the cruise relaxed and refreshed. Port days are popular and may fill up quickly.

Was it worth the splurge?

In my opinion, yes! I loved every minute of it.  That being said, I don’t think I would enjoy it as much if I was sharing the experience with other people, especially strangers.

If it were a private experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to book the Rainforest Room experience again and again. This is one COVID protocol I wish would stay forever! Private spa days? YES, please!

What do you think? Would you give it a try?

  12. That sounds like a nice way to spend a day for me, but I agree with you I would want to experience it alone or with just a few people. The best things about it seem to be the relaxing, especially on a cruise ship and that is best done with fewer people. I would also love the storm shower.
