1. London

There’s something iconic about roaming the streets of London. Between the legendary views of Big Ben, the London Eye soaring high in the sky, the Tower Bridge stretching across the River Thames, the gorgeous architecture, and let’s not forget about the cream of the crop, the shopping. 

Whether you are looking for affordable brands like H&M and Topshop or exquisite handbags and designer shoes from brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, or Prada, the city has it all. 

2. Paris

Paris, the city of love and lights, is all about romance, fashion, and divine food. Honestly, I had heard so many mixed reviews before heading to Paris. I had heard that it’s pretty expensive, overrun with tourists and that the locals could come across as a bit snooty, but my experience visiting Paris was nothing but magical. 

We all know Paris is infamous for the Eiffel Tower and epic museums like the Louvre, and while those things were what initially attracted me to Paris, the shopping here is simply unmatched.

Like many places around the world, there are boutiques and chain stores where you can shop, but what really sets the city apart is Rue St Honoré and its surroundings. This area of Paris is overflowing with luxury designers, including Chanel, Valentino, and Prada, amongst many others. It’s a boujee shopper’s dream.

3. New York City

I’ve been to New York City more times than I can count, and at this point, I should probably pack an extra empty suitcase every time I visit. There’s nothing quite like the shopping scene here. Every corner you turn down is another gigantic department store you could get lost in for hours. 

Whether you are looking to spend the whole day shopping at the massive Macy’s, load up on tech gear at the iconic Apple store on Fifth Avenue, or make your way to SoHo, where countless streets are lined with brands like Brandy Melville, Dr. Martens, Patagonia, you name it; they probably have it. 

4. Tokyo

Tokyo has it all. You’ll never get bored in the city between its unbelievable food scene, world-famous architecture, friendly locals, and endless shopping. And let me tell you, it’s a shopper’s dream. 

Head to Ginza for the ritziest shopping and lavish designers like Chanel and Rolex. Make your way to Shibuya to get lost in the chaos of people and stores like H&M, Zara, and plenty more. Last but certainly not least, you can’t miss Ameyoko, an open-air market full of all types of goods. 

5. Milan

Milan is the place to be for fashion. While many places on this list have a mix of affordable and luxury shopping options, Milan is iconic for its high-end designers and for being the world’s fashion capital. 

You can’t miss the chance to shop at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It is one of the oldest active shopping galleries in the country. The area is full of upscale boutiques and stunning architecture. Not only is it one of the best places to shop in the world, but it is also one of the most gorgeous. 

6. Los Angeles

There’s a reason that countless celebrities live in Los Angeles. Not only does it have picturesque views, but it also has a top-notch dining scene and some of the best shopping in the world.

While many of the streets are filled with chain department stores and charming boutiques, head to the iconic Beverly Hills if you want to shop upscale brands and maybe even spot a celebrity or multiple. 

7. Hong Kong

If you don’t mind the crowds, Hong Kong is another fantastic place to visit for shopping. Here, you’ll find a spectacular mix of street shopping as well as large shopping malls. 

One of the best places to shop is Harbour City, a shopping center known for its endless stores, delicious restaurants, and Ocean Terminal Deck, where you can appreciate stunning views of Victoria Harbour. 

8. Dubai

Dubai is one of the wealthiest cities in the world, so you can bet the shopping here is bonkers. Similar to Milan, I wouldn’t necessarily come here if you are looking to pinch pennies and go budget shopping. I would, however, definitely visit if you are looking for lavish and luxe. 

The city has many large and iconic malls worth checking out, but one of the most famous is the Dubai Mall. Here, you will find some of the best shopping throughout the city and many different wild attractions, including an aquarium, ice rink, and a waterfall. It’s an entire experience in itself, and I recommend spending a whole day exploring it, if not multiple!

9. Rome

Rome is one of my favorite cities in the world. Like Paris, I had heard many skeptical reviews of the city. Many people had warned me about overcrowded tourist attractions, expensive experiences, and other sketchy things, but my experience in Rome was nothing short of a dream come true. 

While my personal favorite aspects of Rome are the history and delectable cuisine, the shopping here is also surreal. Whether you are looking to support local businesses by shopping at charming Italian boutiques and leather stores or want the designer experience, it has a mix of it all. 

If designer stores aren’t your thing, I definitely understand, but I still recommend heading to Via dei Condotti, near the Spanish Steps, to take in the atmosphere. While the Spanish Steps are truly iconic, the area is overflowing with luxe brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Rolex, just to name a few. 

10. Sydney

Sydney, Australia, offers a diverse shopping experience with markets, malls, budget-friendly stores, and designer brands. With such a variety, every shopper will enjoy visiting Sydney!

One of the most popular shopping spots is Westfield Sydney, a shopping center featuring flagship stores, a food court, and a mix of luxury and more affordable stores.

For a more local experience, head to The Rocks Market on George Street, held on weekends. Numerous stalls offer clothes, jewelry, souvenirs, and food. It’s a fun place to spend a few hours outdoors, enjoying the open-air atmosphere instead of being cooped up in a traditional mall.

11. Barcelona

Barcelona is another bustling city offering a perfect blend of shopping experiences. You can explore local boutiques, shopping centers, markets, and more. For a lively market experience, visit La Boqueria—though it’s quite crowded and touristy, it offers a fun atmosphere with a variety of foods and goods. If you prefer a traditional mall, head to Diagonal Mar.

12. Marrakech

Marrakech, Morocco, is another fabulous place for shopaholics. Visitors will be amazed by the souks (marketplaces) throughout the city! Old Medina in Casablanca is one of the best places to visit while exploring the area.

This is where countless stalls are full of clothing, handbags, and other goods. It’s a dreamy and picturesque experience winding through the different alleys and browsing the beautiful stalls.

13. Seoul

The capital city of South Korea is a top-tier shopping destination. You’ll find countless stores throughout the city offering various products, from clothing and handbags to electronics, food, art, and ceramics. Seoul has it all. One of the best places to shop is Hongdae Shopping Street, where you’ll find numerous shops, street performances, street food, and much more.

14. Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a wild place. The city is known for many things, including its endless casinos, lively shows, sports teams, tasty restaurants, and, of course, its shopping. It is widely known for its different strip malls and traditional shopping malls oozing with stores and boutiques. 

If you are looking for one of the best places to shop in the city, don’t hesitate to go to the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Resort. It offers excellent shopping and fun entertainment options, such as gondola rides along the water and a beautifully painted ceiling that looks like the sky. 

15. Aspen

Not only is Aspen known for its legendary ski slopes, but it is also one of the best ski towns for shopping. Celebrities flock to Aspen for its lavish hotels, pristine ski resorts, and designer stores. 

While Aspen does have some more affordable options, like boutiques and outdoor stores, it’s typically known for its expensive stores, such as Moncler, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and many others. The cherry on top is how incredibly convenient all the stores are. You can find most, if not all, of the stores just off Main Street, making it super walkable.

16. Singapore

No list of the world’s best shopping cities would be complete without mentioning Singapore. The city is filled with endless boutiques, designer brands, department stores, and more. One of the top shopping spots is Orchard Road, the central shopping district. 

The area’s cuisine is exceptional, adding to the experience. It’s the perfect place to take a break from shopping and enjoy some incredible dishes before continuing on with your shopping endeavors. 

17. Bangkok

Bangkok is typically known for its markets, including its picturesque and world-famous floating markets like Damnoen Saduak. Here, you’ll find endless vendors and stalls overflowing with local goods and souvenirs. You’ll also be able to appreciate the views of small vessels floating along the water selling different goods. It’s a very tourist-driven attraction but worth checking out for the views.
