Lucaya Beach is one of the best beaches in Freeport and one of the most popular spots for visitors. The soft white sand and clear blue waters make it a beautiful and inviting place to relax, swim and sunbathe.
The beach is also a great place to use as a base for a snorkeling trip, as there are a number of coral reefs just offshore. The reef is too far to swim though, so you’ll want to be sure and book a tour.
The Port Lucayan Marketplace is nearby, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, as well as shops and other conveniences, making Lucaya Beach the perfect spot to spend a day or longer.
Lucaya Beach is a fun place to enjoy Bahamian nightlife as well, so if you aren’t on a cruise, be sure to hang out for a while.
Lucaya Beach is free and open to the public in small areas between resorts. If you want to use the beach for free, you will not have access to chairs, umbrellas, or restrooms.

If you’re looking for a more laid-back option located a few miles east of Windsor Park, Fortune Beach is the perfect spot to relax for the day.
The beach was named after a $2 million shipwreck found here in 1965.
Its shallow waters are good for kids, so this is a great spot to spend some time with your family.
There is also a good restaurant, Banana Bay, for when you need to work up an appetite after a long day in the sun.
Unless you purchase a tour, you will need to find your own way to the beach. You can hire a taxi from the cruise port.

4. Xanadu Beach

If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing day at the beach, Xanadu Beach is the perfect spot. With its gentle waves and soft sand, it’s easy to spend a lazy day lounging on the beach.
The beach is also great for swimming. The waves here are calm and gentle, and the water is shallow. This is a great family beach.
There are no restaurants or shops nearby, so be sure to bring everything you’ll need with you.
Xanadu Beach is free and open to the public.

5. Smith’s Point Beach

Paradise Cove Beach Resort provides round-trip transportation to and from the cruise port and has many activities that you can purchase, including a snorkeling package, a kayaking package, and other activities.

Junkanoo Beach Club is located here, so be sure to check it out for great local food and drinks. The beach also has a small park with a playground if you want to bring your kids along.
The best way to get there is to take a taxi or van from the cruise port. Alternatively, you can take the ferry back and forth from Port Lucaya Marketplace to Taino Beach for $3 per person per trip. There are ferries leaving hourly at 10 minutes past the hour.

If you’re looking for a secluded and beautiful beach to relax on while in Freeport, look no further than Gold Rock Beach.
It’s a pretty long drive from the cruise port, but it’s definitely worth the trek, as this beach offers stunning views of crystal clear waters and white sand beaches. You could also hike a short distance on some of the nature trails.
I would recommend you only visit this beach during low tide. If it is high tide, it’s not worth the hour’s drive out if you are here on a cruise with limited time.
Come prepared with food and drinks, as there are no services available at this beach.
Gold Rock Beach is part of Lucayan National Park and will require a $3.00 per person fee to enter the park.
