Disney Announces New Theme Park
Big news from the House of Mouse: Disney has officially announced plans for its first-ever theme park in the Middle East, Disneyland Abu Dhabi!
Set to rise on Yas Island, this waterfront resort will be Disney’s seventh global destination, joining the ranks of Anaheim, Orlando, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
A New Chapter in Disney Magic
In collaboration with Abu Dhabi-based developer Miral, Disneyland Abu Dhabi aims to blend Disney’s iconic storytelling with the rich cultural tapestry of the United Arab Emirates.
Disney CEO Bob Iger describes the project as “authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati,” promising a park that honors local heritage while delivering the immersive experiences fans worldwide cherish.
Yas Island: The Perfect Backdrop
Yas Island is already a powerhouse of entertainment, home to attractions like Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Adding Disneyland to this lineup positions the island as a must-visit destination for travelers from the Middle East, Africa, India, and Europe. With over 120 million travelers passing through Abu Dhabi and Dubai annually, the park is poised to become a global hotspot.
What To Expect
While specific attractions are still under wraps, Disney has revealed that the resort will feature:
- Themed accommodations
- Unique dining and retail experiences
- All-new attractions that merge Disney magic with Emirati culture
Construction is anticipated to take up to five years, with no official opening date announced yet.
A Cultural Fusion
This venture represents more than just a new park; it symbolizes cultural collaboration. By integrating local architecture and traditions with Disney’s beloved narratives, Disneyland Abu Dhabi aims to create a space where stories from around the world come alive in a uniquely Emirati setting.
