Girls Trips in New England

1. Cape Cod Girls Trip

Girls Trips at Cape Cod

As suggested by Heather, Life at my own Pace

A weekend on the lower end of Cape Cod is the perfect place for a girls’ getaway weekend. Either Truro or Provincetown would be great places to stay.

Provincetown has a municipal airport and has flights to Providence, RI’s T.F.Green Airport. Another option would be to fly into Boston and take the two-hour ferry ride to Provincetown.

Where to stay for a girls’ weekend in Cape Cod: We stayed in Truro at the Crow’s Nest Resort in a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment. There are plenty of small hotels, Airbnbs, and bed and breakfasts to stay in.

➡️ Check Hotel Availability of Hotels in Cape Cod

Truro is home to Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod. You can visit the tasting room and gift shop in a restored 1830s farmhouse. Grab a bite to eat, sit down and sip a little or a lot of wine.

Provincetown is on Cape Cod’s tip and is known for its beaches, harbor, charming shops, art galleries, restaurants, and more.

There is so much to do and see here. While in Provincetown, take a ride out to Race Point Beach. It is part of the National Seashore.

It is known for having some of the best sunsets on Cape Cod.

Speaking of the National Seashore, it consists of 43,607 acres of ponds, woods, and beachfront.

There are also 40 miles of seashore along the Atlantic-facing eastern shore of Cape Cod, including Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown.

There is so much to do and see at the National Seashore; the beaches are just a tiny piece.

Shopping, food, sunsets, beaches, and wine, what more could you ask for in a girl’s getaway?

2. Montpelier, Vermont Girls Trip

Girl Getaways, Montpelier Vermont

Suggested by Jumana, Planet Hopper Girl

Montpelier is the capital city of Vermont, which is the perfect destination for a girls’ getaway in New England, especially for those who would love to stay in the quiet and take in some natural beauties there.

Like every other Vermont town, this city is particularly charming with picturesque houses, maple syrup farms, and vineyards for that perfect photoshoot vacation.

Even though this is a capital city, it is more like a small town and has a lot of historical sites. Vermont State House is the prettiest and a walk around this area is highly recommended.

The panoramic view of the city is incredible and worth a small hike to the Camel’s Hump.

The city is very popular among tourists and equally charming in all seasons, especially in Fall and Winter.

Consider it one of the Stars Hollow towns for Halloween specifically. In autumn, the town offers one of the most scenic fall views in and around and it is perfect for a weekend fall foliage road trip in Vermont.

Another activity to aim for specifically is to go to the local farm shops and try out the local produce. Vermonters follow a healthy lifestyle that is particularly interesting and hence trying local food and products is a great idea.

If you are visiting by car, you could also drive up to Mount Mansfield which is an easy but picturesque drive up the mountains with great views.

The more adventurous you are the more things to do here, like go on the walking hikes, etc. Montpelier fits the bucket for both a slow weekend as well as an adventurous one.

Ocean City, Maryland Girls Trip

Girls trip, Maryland

Suggested by Denise, Chef Denise

If you and your girls are looking for a party on the beach, head to Ocean City, Maryland! This resort town on the Delmarva peninsula has plenty of fun things to do no matter what you and your gal pals are into.

Sporty girls will have the opportunity to swim, jet ski, kayak, stand-up paddle, or parasail.

Or if it’s leisure you’re after, spend all day hanging out at the beach–or the bar.

Try Seacrets for drinks literally in the bay and on the sand, or stay and have a meal. For nightlife, check out their website for music events.

Waterman’s is the place for a crab feast, and Harborside, home of the original Orange Crush is another local’s favorite for drinks and food.

And if your girls want a boozy brunch, try either of the two Bad Monkey Bar & Grills

Of course, there’s more to eat and drink while strolling down the 3 miles of boardwalk filled with food stands, restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops with funny t-shirts.

Try some of the famous local snacks. Number one on that list is Thrasher’s French Fries. Don’t let the line or the fact that they don’t offer ketchup deter you; the malt vinegar is perfect and they’re some of the best fries you’ll ever have.

A little way down is Fisher’s popcorn; so good they’ll ship it anywhere in the country.

Cool off with some Dumser’s ice cream and take a photo by the Ocean City sign.

New York City Girls Weekend

NYC girls trip

Suggested by Victoria, Guide Your Travel

New York City is the ultimate girl-trip destination and the perfect weekend girls getaway. This city has it all; from the best brunch spots, sightseeing opportunities, farmers’ markets and so much more.

New York can be expensive so make sure you budget enough money to get yourself a nice Airbnb apartment either right in Manhattan or alternatively in New Jersey or Brooklyn.

A quick train ride will take you to the heart of the city but, of course, staying right in Manhattan is the best choice.

If you’re into shopping then you’re in luck! New York is home to a wide variety of flagship stores and all the best designer shops on 5th Avenue.

Take your girls to get all-new outfits to wear for your first night out in NYC.

Of course, no trip to New York is complete without an iconic slice of pizza. Take yours up to Highline Park and have a little picnic with a view.

If you want the best view in the city we’d highly recommend going up to the One World Trade Centre where you’ll get the most amazing panoramic views.

Also, don’t miss out on the ferry which lets you enjoy the skyline from the water. Tickets are very affordable and you might even spot the Statue of Liberty on the Way

Looking for the best girls getaway where you can really get away from it all?

Then head to the breathtaking North Shore in Minnesota, a scenic two- to four-hour road trip north of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Here are the best things to do on a girls weekend on the North Shore in Minnesota.

  • Hike at one or more of the eight beautiful state parks and the famed Superior Hiking Trail.
  • Chase waterfalls – from the popular Gooseberry Falls State Park (home to four waterfalls) to the tallest waterfall in Minnesota (120 feet) at Grand Portage State Park.
  • Tour the historic Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors, Minn., which sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Superior
  • Hunt for agates on the shores of Lake Superior – it’s a Minnesota thing.
  • Ski at Lutsen Mountains – the Midwest’s largest resort features four mountains and 95 ski runs.
  • Not a skier? Take the Summit Express Gondola up for some stunning views of the mountaintops and Lake Superior – especially beautiful in the fall.
  • Grand Marais is the most charming town on the North Shore – you’ll find super cute shops and great sunset views on Lake Superior.
  • Visit one of several wineries or take a brewery tour.
  • And so much more

My favorite place to stay on the North Shore is Caribou Highlands Lodge at Lutsen Mountains. They offer three-bedroom townhomes, which is perfect for a girl getaway. And it’s also centrally located to all the North Shore state parks.

I’m also a huge fan of the cozy cottages overlooking Lake Superior at Cove Point Lodge in Two Harbors, Minn. This place is super close to Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse.

Orcas Island, Washington

Suggested by Sumeeta, Sumeeta Seeks

Orcas Island is a peaceful island in the San Juan archipelago to the west of Washington State. It is such an awesome place for a girl getaway!

Oprah recently purchased a home there, which makes sense because Orcas Island is easily one of the most beautiful places in the US!

But you don’t need to be a celebrity to visit or to experience all the best that Orcas Island has to offer.

Orcas Island is a great place to visit any time of year. The most popular season for visitors is summer when there are a plethora of outdoor activities like kayaking and whale watching.

Winter is the low season for tourism, but you’ll feel like you have the whole island to yourself.

There’s an abundance of activities to suit a range of interests. For art lovers, be sure to check out Orcas Island Artworks to see the work of local artists, Orcas Island Pottery for unique handmade pieces, and Darvill’s Bookstore.

Girls Getaway San Antonio

Suggested by Nina, Nina Out and About

San Antonio is the perfect spot for a weekend girls getaway. The city is best known for the historic Alamo, but once you arrive you’ll discover that there’s so much more.

You can fly directly to San Antonio or drive the 1.5 hours from Austin to begin your girls’ trip. Most international flights don’t connect to the smaller San Antonio airport, so Austin is the easier connection for girls coming from further away.

Culturally, San Antonio is a delightful blend of Mexican and American cultures. On the same day, you can go on an epic Texas trail ride on horseback and promenade along the river walk.

Be sure to enjoy the delicious margaritas at Rosario’s Mexican Café Y Cantina. They pair perfectly with the delicious tacos and are sure to get you in the spirit of a weekend getaway.

Nashville is the perfect city for a weekend girls getaway! Not only does Nashville have some of the best bars in the United States, it’s also well-known for it’s trendy brunch spots, Instagrammable murals, and quaint shops!

When visiting Nashville, I recommend staying as close to Broadway as possible. This is Nashville’s main street and is also where all the Honky Tonk bars are located.

Since Nashville is a large city, there are several major hotel chains located in the area, including a newly renovated Hyatt and Holiday Inn.

You can definitely explore most of Nashville in a long weekend, although it will be much easier to navigate with a car.

➡️ Reserve your rental car here!

There are Ubers in Nashville, but the price of these add up, so I definitely recommend renting a car in the city if you aren’t driving there for the weekend!

Aside from bar hopping down Broadway, I recommend exploring the 12 South neighborhood. This neighborhood is home to some of Nashville’s most famous murals, including the “I Believe In Nashville” mural.

Here you’ll also find some of the city’s most quaint, southern boutiques and coffee shops. Frothy Monkey is a fan favorite.

While you’re at it, head down the street to 5 Daughters Bakery for a treat! You can’t leave Nashville without exploring the musical side of Music City!

Head to the Grand Ole Opry next for an exclusive, backstage tour! You have to book tickets online and in advance for this activity, but it’s so worth it.

There’s also the Country Music Hall of Fame downtown and the Johnny Cash Museum, both of which are other must-sees.

Lastly, if you’re looking for another fun activity to do during your girls getaway in Nashville, be sure to check out a Pedal Tavern! These bars on wheels allow you to pedal your way through the city, combining both sightseeing and day drinking- what a dream!

Which of these awesome Girls Getaways are you packing for?

I hope this gets you excited to call your girls and head out for the weekend, I know it does me!

Hey, men, if you made it this far, booking one of these trips for your girl would be an amazing gift (hint, hint).
