Are you looking for a breathtaking, once-in-a-lifetime place to elope?

Eloping is a great way to have an intimate, unique wedding without all the stress of planning a traditional wedding.

And what better place to elope than Zion National Park in Southern Utah? With its stunning landscapes and bountiful hiking trails, Zion is the perfect place to say your “I do’s.”

Here are a few tips on how to make your Zion elopement go off without a hitch.

Pick the Perfect Time of the Year

The first step in planning your Zion elopement is to pick the perfect time of year. The weather in Southern Utah can be very hot in the summer, so we recommend eloping in the spring or fall.

April and May offer moderate temperatures and beautiful wildflowers, while September and October are perfect for enjoying the stunning autumn leaves.

Summer is a very crowded time in Zion National Park. Avoiding a summer wedding will give you a more intimate experience.

Winter in Zion can be beautiful and uncrowded. A winter wedding would be stunning.

Getting a Permit

The next step in eloping in Zion National Park is getting a permit. You can apply for a permit online at the Zion NPS Site.

Special Use Permits, which is the permit you need, cost $100.00

It is important to know that you must submit your application for a permit at least 3 weeks before your desired wedding date. Your location and date are not guaranteed until the permit is approved and issued.

It’s also important to know that you will still need to pay the entrance fee to the park, and all of your guests (if any) will also need to purchase an entry pass to enter Zion National Park.

The Entry fee to Zion is $35.00 per vehicle. If you plan on visiting any other national parks during the year, I recommend purchasing an America the Beautiful Pass. You can purchase your pass here.

Planning the Logistics

Take some time to explore the park and find a spot that feels special to you. When you’ve found the perfect location, it’s time to start thinking about logistics.

Now it’s time to start thinking about logistics like timing, transportation, and accommodations.

If you’re planning on hiking to your ceremony spot, you’ll want to give yourself enough time to do so before it gets dark.

You’ll also need to consider how you’ll get there—are you going to hike, take the shuttle, or drive?

And finally, you’ll need to decide where you’ll stay. There are plenty of camping options in Zion National Park, or you can stay in one of the nearby towns like Springdale or Hurricane.
