There’s nothing like spending a day or even a few days at a theme park. The energy is bright and cheerful, and you can feel the happiness all around. The sound of roller coasters speeding by, the distant noises from fun games, and the smell of tasty park food fill the air.
When I think of theme parks, a few I’ve been to come to mind, and the memories always make me want to go back. But there’s something special about visiting a new theme park in a new place; the rides may be different, but the happy atmosphere is always the same. If you’re excited to explore the best theme parks worldwide, keep reading for my curated list.
Tokyo DisneySea – Tokyo, Japan
You might know that Tokyo, Japan has a Disneyland, but did you know it also has a DisneySea? While a trip to any Disneyland location is always a good idea, DisneySea offers something truly unique.
As the name suggests, Tokyo DisneySea’s theme is inspired by the myths and legends of the sea. Located along Tokyo Bay, the park features several themed ports, much like a cruise port, complete with nautical-inspired rides, restaurants, shops, and more. The rides at DisneySea are incredibly unique, and the stunning views of Tokyo Bay make it one of the best theme parks in the world and a must-visit experience.
Ferrari World – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Yes, you read that right: Abu Dhabi has a theme park called Ferrari World. While you might think it’s just a place to admire Ferraris or maybe even test drive one (which would be awesome), it’s much more than that.
As the name suggests, Ferrari World is a theme park centered around the Ferrari brand. It offers a variety of rides, from roller coasters to drop towers, as well as restaurants, shops, and more, all with a Ferrari twist. Many of the attractions are Ferrari car-themed, featuring the iconic red color and logo, making it a unique and exciting experience the whole family can enjoy.
Efteling, Netherlands
Efteling is one of the most famous theme parks in the Netherlands, located in Kaatsheuvel, about an hour south of Amsterdam. This park is known for its focus on fairy tales, myths, and folklore. But one of my absolute favorite things about Efteling is that it’s surrounded by nature. Even though it’s the largest theme park in the Netherlands, it’s not surrounded by towering buildings. Instead, it’s surrounded by lush greenery, enhancing the fairytale forest atmosphere and giving you a peaceful, nature-filled experience as you explore the park.
Universal Islands Of Adventure – Orlando, Florida, United States
When you think of Orlando, Florida, Disney World probably comes to mind. And while it’s definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been, a hidden gem in the area is Universal Islands of Adventure.
This theme park offers a range of unique zones, like Seuss Land, where you feel like you’re stepping into different Dr. Seuss stories; Jurassic Park, where it seems like dinosaurs are all around you; and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where Hogwarts comes to life. Universal Islands of Adventure is a fantastic alternative to Disney, offering a surreal environment that transports you into many different worlds, all complimented by unique rides and thrilling experiences.
Parc Astérix – Plailly, France
Parc Astérix, located in Plailly, France, just 45 minutes northeast of Paris, offers a unique charm. Next on the list is Everland Resort, located in Yongin, South Korea, about an hour and a half south of Seoul. Everland is one of the most exciting theme parks in the world because it offers so much more than just rides.
